Time-Wasters Update

Sheryl Goedert wants to give me $1.8 Million out of the $396 million she won in January. If you’ve got that much, why not give some away. Shame it’s not real, – the sender is just a scammer as no-one in their right mind offers to give away large sums of money to people without even knowing who they are.

“Shipping with multiple transport providers in today’s complex omni-channel environment is a must or should be for all of us”. This spammer may be a genuine business or just a scammer – who knows? But I certainly don’t care as the sender is too dumb to realise that radio stations don’t ship goods around the world and the message was sent to a fake email address invented by a mailing list creator.

There are endless emails offering silicone bracelets that you fill with hand sanitiser. Doesn’t seem very practical to me but maybe for some people they will help. Useful or not – do not buy from unsolicited emails as there will always be better quality and price available if you look at reputable sellers rather than risking poor quality or non-existent items from a scammer.

Lots more email messages demanding that we fill in the attached form to be registered on the EU Business Register. No thanks. It’s entirely pointless.

A message supposedly from Gabriel Komlan but the email sender is an outlook address that doesn’t match. She claims that there is an unclaimed legacy foundation in the name of her late client who has the same last name and same nationality as me. However, the email is addressed to Hello Dear so she has no idea what my name is. She also gives a different return email address which is a trick used by many scammers and usually means the sender’s email belongs to someone else and she stole that address to send out her dreadful scam messages. Sad and pathetic.

Anastasia Bogolyubova from Strautmann and Sohna in Germany are very interested in our quality products and want us to send her a catalogue and payment terms. A standard scam message with an attached file containing malware.

TCE Electronics are keen to supply us with toroidal chokes and transformers as we have already shown an interest in such items. No – just a weird scam email. He claims to be named David, but his email address says Rose so perhaps he’s having an identity crisis.

Carol Patterson is the name on the email but no doubt that’s fake as the scam email is a very common one. “Over 160,000 women and men are using a simple and secret water hack to drop 2 lbs of fat every night as they sleep”. The random number changes but the message is the same so probably the scam works. It’s such a ludicrous email and clearly makes no sense – even claiming something is secret that 160,000 are using. That wouldn’t be a secret if it existed but of course it doesn’t exist except in the minds of greedy evil scammers.

“The Power-All Adapter Plug means no more household power costs ever” is another very common scam message and this one claims it is a gift from God and that many scientists preferred to flee than to face this life changing free energy miracle. The scammer seems to have been carried way with her own lies as it continues for pages – piling rubbish upon rubbish. There is no such gadget – just a scammer.

Apparently an ancient Indonesian herbal remedy wipes out your hunger pangs completely. It also burns tummy fat, is five times more effective than any workout and three times more effective than surgery. This scammer isn’t content with wiping out hunger but has to add even more assorted stupid claims for her magic remedy. She’s just a liar of course – there is no such remedy.

Stupidest Spam of the Week The CIA

There are some scam messages that involve the CIA but they are rare so this new one is an oddity.

Waylon Miethkle tells me he has been instructed to contact me (doesn’t know my name though) as the CIA have been carrying out research into life for the last 50 years. He wants me to have the results of that research.

Sounds remarkably boring.

The tag to try to get me interested in clicking the link is

“Now governments and others have developed technology around these concepts for their own deceptive use. You will be contacted by other methods about counter measures and the part you play in this”.

I think this scammer has been watching old Cold war movies and thinks she’s a part of the spy game.

“By other methods” – maybe I should keep a watch out for carrier pigeons carrying secret messages or a microfilm turning up in my breakfast cereal or clandestine phone calls with strange pass phrases e.g. “The weather is Siberia is colder than a London Tuesday in the summer”.

Ludicrous.

The link to be clicked is to a shortened URL so there’s no way to know which website it goes to unless I click on it which I will not be doing.

Time-Wasters Update

I have been personally selected to participate in a new annual visitor survey and for my participation I have a chance to win a new Samsung smart phone. That may sound reasonable. However, if I had been personally selected then the sender would know my name but the email is addressed to “Congratulations”. The email contains various links – to the survey, to help, to contact details, to terms and conditions but they all point to exactly the same scammers page. Lazy scammer. Most likely, the web page is a phishing site after your personal information.

Another email says the author has found my website through diligent searching and offers to pay me to post his articles on my site. These are supposedly articles written by a top team of American writers. He wants to know how much I charge per post. People can only afford to pay random web sites to have their articles posted online if they are scam messages or illegal. No thanks.

Yet another ludicrous story of someone losing tons of weight just when they were at death’s door. This one stars Peter who was warned by doctors he would die if he didn’t lose weight, but he had tried every possible method and failed. Then he learned one ‘shocking’ trick and lost 84 pounds. Maybe he had his legs and arms removed – who knows? Losing weight is simple in principle – eat less and exercise more. The hard bit is the will power to actually do it and no magic trick is going to do that for anyone.

A slightly different take on weight loss as this scam message focuses on a fatty liver. “Professors predicted my fatty liver will kill me”. Couldn’t she find a doctor? – so took advice from a college professor. Maybe he was teaching maths or geography and wanted to be a part time doctor. Anyway, the message claims it can show you the secret of fixing your fatty liver and losing as much weight as you want and looking years younger. Yeah! Right!

A reminder from TV Licensing that I need to update my details. Click the button to start. But the message is from maha-china .com so is fake and it was sent to undisclosed recipients meaning it’s gone to probably millions of random people.

Time-Wasters Update

The email exhorts me to update my Amazon account, as a temporary limit has been placed on it. This scam specifically wants me to update the payment method i.e. the scammer is after financial information so as to steal from me. The message is obviously a scam and if there was any doubt – it has been sent to a dead email address that cannot possibly ever have had an Amazon account.

Yet another cancer cure turns up on email. It claims to reveal the zombie outbreak that causes all chronic disease including cancer. Supposedly discovered at the Pennsylvania School of Medicine. This school does carry out cancer research and is linked with pharmaceutical companies but there they certainly have not announced any cancer cures. Just a scammer making things up as usual.

“Doctors cannot explain why this insane method passes every lab test”. The word ‘insane’ in this context tells you immediately that the message is a scam as it’s one of the scammer’s favourite words and its use is intended to work for people with a disbelief in authority. The message also claims ‘over 33.477’ people have already improved their hearing with this method. Quoting a specific number like this points to a scam as no-one knows how many people actually use any method and the phrase ’over NNNN’ means the number is made up. The message is actually claiming that an incredibly strong mineral will restore your hearing regardless of the reason for hearing loss. There are so many pointers to this being a scam that it’s amazing anyone could not spot that – but who knows?

Apparently the American government cannot believe they missed out on such an important discovery. This is another email claiming some magical way to generate electricity so you never have to pay an electric company bill again. If only it was that simple, but it isn’t. This email claims a small town in Orlando powers its homes for free and the picture what looks like electric pickup points along the side of a road. It is possible to generate electricity from cars passing over plates under the tarmac but you would need millions to power a small town and that’s not very practical as it would costs a fortune. Scammers sometimes take true stories and twist them ridiculously to con people. Don’t believe such rubbish.

A message arrives that contains around 200 lines and all of it seems to be random words in a foreign language – possible Indonesian as the word Indonesia turns up every so often in the giant word list. Other odd phrases also occur every so often such as ‘poker online’ or ‘bonuses paid’ and ‘promo bonus’. Very weird but very much a scam of some kind.

Time-Wasters Update

“Do you want SEO proposal? We are UK based agency”. That’s the headline and content from a standard SEO (search engine optimisation) email of which the radio station gets hundreds every week. There may be something true in the email, but they are not UK based, English is not the first language of the sender, they have no proper company name, the email address is taxclubfirst which makes no sense with this email and the supposed writer Julie Ryan almost certainly doesn’t exist – just a randomly selected name for a fake email address. Sad and pointless.

Felix, the Chief Compliance Officer at one of Canada’s foremast cryptocurrency exchange platforms wants to pay me $9.5 million. That’s a nice thought but never heard of him or his fake company and he doesn’t even know my name. Shame the $9.5 million only exists in the mind of a scammer.

Even with the Coronavirus catastrophe happening, some scammers want to create fear over other catastrophes they invented. One is about a water shortage and says 50% of the American population could die within months. Scammers like to frighten people but it’s all just rubbish intended to get people to watch a random video for which the sender is paid by the click. He claims 393,527 patriots have already watched it but it’s just pathetic.

“ECOPOWER. The device that cleans your dirty power. A new household friendly plug-in that cuts your horrendous electricity bill”. This is a high profile campaign to get people to part with their money for a useless gadget. Something you pug in cannot possibly turn “dirty” power into “clean” power as it still has the same supplier. Fancy graphics and testimonials are all made up and devices aren’t going to reduce anyone’s energy bills.

“Many doctors can’t believe their eyes”. Is the title for yet another diabetes scam email. There’s no reason to think that people with diabetes are any more gullible than everyone else but so many scammers seem who target diabetics and the scams are always simple and stupid. Diabetes type II has become far more prevalent in the last couple of decades as we all get fatter – so there is a big market for these scams. This latest message says ‘Every patient who ate this fruit saw their blood sugar drop by 91% almost immediately”. No they didn’t. Fruit cannot possibly have such an effect. The ‘cure’ for diabetes type II is not in finding some miracle ingredient but in cutting back on sugar intake, losing weight and living a healthier lifestyle.
