Stupidest Scam of the Week – Perfect Body

“Jennifer Aniston’s Trick to a Perfect Body Uses This Daily”

That’s a catchy opening line for this scam email which is yet another miracle cure for being overweight.

The email is from cncylbet.trade which sounds like a currency trading domain name rather than anything to do with weight loss. Perhaps the dumb scammer has tried and failed at currency trading so now invented a magic method of weight loss.

The email starts:-

“This is a true story”

“Anthony Turner was a 390 pound morbidly obese man at death’s door”.

Yeah right! Of course it’s a true story.

Blah blah blah.

“This has shocked doctors all around the world and has already helped 27,788 men and women to burn flab quickly”.

No – it’s only helped a scammer to steal money from gullible people.

Stupidest Scam of The Week – Chinese Emails

An email from a Chinese company that is “glad to know that you are looking for toroidal choke coils and transformers for your products”.

I don’t think local radio stations typically sell equipment containing industrial transformers.

Mr Tang seems to have a problem knowing which company he works for.

The email is from tce-electronic.com but the signature on the message is from tce-electronics.com. Only one letter difference but that makes for separate companies.

He is proud of his products “Out products have acquired such certificates as UL, CE, CQC 7 RoHS”

It doesn’t say they actually have any certificates but that they have such as …

Just a typical strange email claiming to be from a Chinese company.

Stupidest Scam of The Week – Money Exchange

An email claiming to be from the Al Fardan Money Exchange telling me a sob story about why they have messed up the payment to me but can now go ahead with it and I just need to open up the attached zip file for payment details.

Scammers learned the psychological trick sometimes used by Marketers that if you say there’s been a mistake but everything is fixed now and payment (or whatever) can go ahead that gives people a false sense of security and hence makes the sales pitch or scam a little more believable.

The email contains a zip file but surely everyone has learned by now that opening up a zip file is DANGEROUS.

People make zip files for 2 reasons

Because they need to send you something very large that will be considerably reduced in size if zipped e.g. 100+ page documents or very large pictures etc.
Because they want to hide something e.g. a virus from email scanners.

A payment slip is a very small document so the only reason to zip it is hide the malware contained within.

The company is supposedly Al Fardan Money Exchange but the email is from indasupport.com and the name on the bottom of the email is Ahalia Exchange Bureau so that’s three mismatching names.

A pathetic scam attempt.

Stupidest Scam of the Week – Genius

The email is titled “Are you a genius but don’t know it?”

A long boring email with all of the usual sales pitch, references, supposed proofs, pseudo-scientific information etc. but sadly it all amounts to nothing worthwhile.

“Did you realise that there is a secret method out there that is allowing people to increase their memory capacity by as much as 500%?”

“This top secret method will literally have you double how much you can hold in your memory in as little as 14 days”.

And so on.

The email tells you that with a super power memory you will be a genius as you can learn anything you want.

There is a lot of free information online, in books, TV programmes, training courses etc about various ways to improve your memory and these do work, if you put in the effort, as shown by various stage mentalists such as Darren Brown.

The methods used are not secret – they are very well known. But they do take effort which is why we haven’t all taken the time to learn such tricks.

However, a “super-power” memory does not make anyone a genius – there’s a world of a difference.

If you want to improve your memory then read the relevant books or go online to find such information.

But don’t fall for these pathetic attempts to scam you.

Stupidest Scam of the Week – Your Real Life Superpower Revealed

The email is titled “Your Real-Life Superpower Revealed”.

So this is obviously either a stupid quiz or a stupid scam message and this one is a scam.

It begins:-

Hey,

Imagine being able to bend the world to your will.

What if you could use your mind to create a reality that you desire in the same way that Neo did in the blockbuster movie The Matrix?

Believe it or not, some of the smartest, most successful and most educated people in the world believe we are living in a Matrix-like virtual world.

Movies like the Matrix are great fun and very creative but they are just movies. How we think obviously influences our lives a great deal, but anyone who thinks that they can create their own world using the power of their mind is either permanently day-dreaming or heading for a major mental problem.

Stupidest Scam or Spam of the Week

On the Internet, there are numerous essay writing services. These are supposed to be used as examples or for research and not handed in for exams or coursework as if work done by the student, but we all know that cheating goes on. You need an essay for college so you pay a service to write it for you

These are illegal in New Zealand but most countries haven’t yet followed this lead..

One such service is grademiners.com.

The email claims to be from grademiners.com but that is probably not true as the grammar and misspelling in the message is atrocious e.g.

“It call’s Graderminers”

“I am admin of big website of essay writing service”.

“I want to create catching content in your website”

“I’ll try to connect topic of your site with education direction”

Maybe this is the result of machine translation from another language. However, whatever the source, I would not employ someone who writes emails like that to work on my website. No thanks.
