The email is dramatic

“You Can Now Communicate Directly With Your Cat”

“Researchers in Tokyo have found this lesson through careful scientific analysis.”

“The Japanese researchers found that cats understand humans, not just by voice tone but also by identifying certain words including their names, the owners name and certain commands”.

Now, if you’re a cat owner then you already know that cats learn their name and certain commands so the above statements are nothing new, just some moron trying to sell junk by making it sound new and exciting when it’s just common knowledge.

How to communicate with a cat

Rattle tins of cat food – the cat can hear this from 8 miles away and will suddenly appear next to you, purring and expecting to be fed.
Shower affection and cuddles and tickles on your cat as they know they are worth it and the cat will be pleased you’re finally treating it as you should.
If the cat does something you don’t want it to – then shout NO or STOP and it will get the message
If the cat rubs up against your leg then it wants to be stroked.

Now is that so difficult it takes researchers to find it out?

I think not. All cats have their owners trained within a few weeks. No problem.

The Please Read Me Ransomware Attack

In 2020, around 250,000 MySQL database servers were attacked in a very large scale ransomware attack.

The victims were threatened into paying a ransom or else see their confidential documents revealed to the public.

The campaign has been known as “Please_Read_Me,”

Two variants of this attack were seen in 2020. The first was the standard encrypt the files and then demand payment in Bitcoin payment for the decryption key and the second included the use ‘leak’ web sites to publish documents until the ransom is paid.

How This Happens

MySQL is a database management system.

The attack starts by finding those databases with Internet access and tries every password in the dictionary and all common passwords to see if it can login successfully.

If successful, then the attack runs a series of database queries to determine the contents, then zips the data and sends it to the scammer. It then renders the user’s database unusable by deleting all data.

Ransom notes are then left on the user computers and they must pay in Bitcoin to regain access to their data.

Covid Relief on Credit Cards

There are many Coronavirus scams to do with protective equipment, fake treatments, priority access to vaccines, government grants etc.

This latest scam uses cold calling – the scammers call or you get a computerised message on your answering service.

The message says they can offer 0% interest on a new credit card due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

To sweeten the deal, they will also transfer over to their card all of your current credit card debts and they will do this for free and then offer 0% interest on those debts as well.

All sounds great but obviously is lies as anyone offering 0% interest for more than a short period is going to go bankrupt.

Never trust such callers and never respond to computerised messages. They simply want your card details so they can steal from you.

If you want a better deal for credit than you currently have – research the offers available and make sure they are genuine before signing up for anything.

Stupidest Spam of the Week Impossible Money Lender

There are lots of scammers offering fake loans at almost zero interest and for any reason.

People would have to be quite desperate to take any notice of these sort of obvious scam emails, but some do.

This latest one is from moneystorelendings.xyz and ‘.xyz’ is not a domain name suffix that any legitimate lending institution would use, so obviously it’s a scam.

“We provide loans up to 500k without requiring good credit or collateral.”

Anyone would did lend to people with a poor credit rating and no collateral would be throwing their money away unless they had some way of guaranteeing the loans.

“we provide an Instant Approval in less than 30 seconds and funding the next day.”

The purpose of the email is to get you to click the link to ‘find out how much you qualify for’.

To get that answer you have to provide your financial details which the scammer can then sell to other criminals and rob your accounts.

Only ever consider loans from reputable financial institutions

Time-Wasters Update

“A brilliant engineer from Lexington revealed a secret project that will change electricity history for ever. NASA engineers don’t understand how they missed it and are trying to figure out how it works.” For some reason people seem to leave their common sense behind when it comes to electricity generation. The means for generating electricity are very well known and there aren’t any magical means to make it anymore than there are perpetual motion machines (they used to be a common scam).

There are many fake tinnitus cures around and this latest one shows a photo of a solider having his ears checked by a nurse or doctor. Supposedly he has only one ear but he found a mysterious solution to tinnitus that woks immediately – click the link to find out about it. No thanks – just another pathetic scammer.

Mahmud Salman writes to us saying he has an urgent order requisition for us and needs our catalogue and price list. His address claims to be in Cairo but his email address is fake Russian so that makes no sense. Obviously if he actually did have an order then he would know what busines we are in – we don’t have catalogues or price lists as we are a radio station.

‘Centralised Collections’ sent an email titled “Updated Invoice with Adjustment”. The email explains that there has been a rate adjustment and the attached invoices have been updated. The email looks professional but of course it’s a scam as we don’t know that company and obviously will not download the attached Excel file, as spreadsheets can contain malware.

Following the numerous scam messages about how various random foods attack your gums, we now have scammers claiming that toothpastes rot your teeth. You just have to click the link and watch the video to see proof. All lies of course. Just a moron scammer wanting you to click the link for their benefit.

KB Was Married to a Scammer

I am an educated professional with an upper level income. My scams occurred not with an outsider but a partner…. yep first with my ex-husband who was a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine – a “trustworthy profession”. I was blinded by the scammer that he was.

My point is to trust your gut no matter who the person is. If it feels wrong…. chances are it is wrong.

I had met my ex husband as a client with the many rescue dogs I had.

Started a whirlwind romance (not knowing he wasn’t divorced yet) and eventually marrying him. We built a very successful practice together and when it came down to whose name everything went in, he convinced me to put it all in his corporation name stating I was not allowed because I was not a doctor….. meanwhile he stockpiled and hid money from me.

He asked me to sign so many papers regarding corporate taxes etc and I trusted him. He was my husband. Our accountant was our friend. Long story short, eventually I caught him embezzling our life savings and planning on running away to an island without me.

Once I discovered this, I let the courts take over. How could a spouse do this to me. We were married…….

I have written a book called The Preah Secrets and it deals with my veterinary husband and how I discovered his heist and how I followed my gut to eventually discover his intentions of deceit. I prepared and eventually sought justice for myself. I hope the book inspires others to follow their instincts and remember, scams can happen to anyone by anyone.
