Stupidest Spam of the Week Automated Crypto Trading

Scammers love to offer money for nothing and you can be assured it always translates into money for them and losses for you.

The title of this latest such scam email is “Insanely Easy Way to Become Rich in 2020”.

I think this scammer is just reusing old scam messages without noticing how out of date it is.

What if I told you that you can become a millionaire this year?”.

Then it goes on about how people make huge sums investing in crypto currencies such as Bitcoin and claims  he has perfected a way to make the gains with no risk of losing anything.

He has an automated system that will invest your money and is guaranteed to make you lots more.

He claims that members typically make a minimum profit of £1,296 per day.

Logically that makes no sense as an average is simply calculated and cannot be ‘typically’.

Then he claims that users of his system work for an average of 20 minutes per day or less.

Again, logically impossible  as an average cannot be less than itself.

It’s all rubbish. Of course. There is no automated system and no way of guaranteeing that investments of any kind always win.

Time-Wasters Update

A message tells me that a temporary email address I use is due to be terminated unless I upgrade my account. But that email address is a temporary one, so is unimportant. Also, the message is from vanphatpro1998 which is not the company that provide the email address so it’s from a scammer and should be ignored.

The Japanese Red Soda fat burning secret is yet another magic means of supposedly losing tons of weight with no effort. Sadly, these are always scams and drinking a glass of soda before 10 am in the morning as specified in the message isn’t going to make you lose 33 lbs of fat in one month with no exercise as is claimed. Effortless dieting does not exist except in the minds of scammers.

A message from APPLE tells me they have accepted my order and I should open the attached tax invoice document. But it’s not from APPLE of course – it is actually from usdosaldiw5313.rloavhymrc.com which is an obvious fake. The attached file is a WORD document so as part of a scam is very likely to contain malware. No thanks.

An email tells me that my parcel delivery is on hold as the company have incomplete address information. I can choose to click to update my delivery details and have the parcel re-delivered or to click to arrange a new delivery address or I can choose to collect the parcel in person in Acton.  No thanks – I wont do any of those as there is no parcel.

The Coronavirus has led to worldwide shortages of personal protective equipment, hand sanitiser, face masks, test equipment and much more. Scammers love this kind of problem as it makes people more willing to buy these items from unproven suppliers and even governments have fallen for some of the scammers tricks in their haste to buy the necessary items.    There are still scammers offering face masks for sale and sending out mass spam emails. This latest one claims to be able to source any quantities wanted and at low prices. But no-one should ever buy from people who send out mass emails as they are almost guaranteed to be scammers. Always research any supplier before making a commitment.

Fake Fortune Payments

PAYMENT NOTICE OF YOUR FUND US$2.5M

Whenever there is a natural disaster – epidemic, earthquake, flooding, forest fires etc. scammers try to take advantage by advertising fake charities, fake products, fake helplines etc. They also try to tempt people with offers of free payments and the Coronavirus pandemic has led to a lot of these.

e.g.  The United Nations and humanitarian partners (UNHP), Agency, is today brought out US$855 million for its urgent push to curb the risk and help to impact on COVID-19 outbreaks in these vulnerable communities, as part of a wider UN Global Humanitarian Response support plan to all the listed names that qualifies for US$2,500,000 compensation.  This is to inform you that your (US$2.5M) outstanding payment has been approved and ready to be paid through Bank to Bank Transfer as the bank-indicated.  “

This is just standard scammer text using the name of a made-up agency and the quite ridiculous idea that the recipient will receive $2.5 million in compensation for no reason. Anyone getting this message knows they have not lost that amount of money therefore it would be ridiculous to believe that anyone would pay such compensation to random people.

However, people do still reply, perhaps in the hope that the mistake will never be noticed.

The message goes on to request the usual personal information – name, address, contact details, bank details etc.

The sender’s email address is clearly a personal one and is registered in Hungary.

All rubbish of course.

Information Rights Post Brexit

https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/data-protection-at-the-end-of-the-transition-period/

The General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy across the European Union and the European Economic Area (EEA). It also covers issues regarding transfer of personal data to countries outside of outside the EU and EEA areas.

This has been UK law for years and although cumbersome at times, it has improved the safety of personal data generally.

Now the UK has left the EU, what happens?

The UK helped to draft the GDPR and is committed to maintaining at least the same levels of protection for its citizens.

The GDPR was converted into a piece of UK domestic law called UK-GDPR in early 2020 and came into effect when the UK left the EU in January 2021.

If you are a UK business or organisation that already complies with the GDPR and has no contacts or customers in the EEA, then there be nothing further you need to do currently.

If you are a UK business or organisation that receives personal data from contacts in the EEA, you need to take extra steps to ensure that the data can continue to flow.

If you are a UK business or organisation with an office, branch or other established presence in the EEA, or if you have customers in the EEA, you will need to comply with both UK and EU data protection regulations at the end of the transition period. You may need to designate a representative in the EEA.

Team World Company List Scam

An email claiming to be from Team World Company List but is actually from civa.be and it is a company directory scam.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, In order to have your business(es) inserted in our registry of Universal Businesses for the 2021/2022 edition: please print and complete the attached form (wbl2021cc.jpg) and send it to the following address: “  and gives a post box address in the Netherlands.

Lots of businesses offer such company directories and usually it costs something to get an entry or at least for an entry better than the basic.

In these days of the Internet, it is debateable whether printed registers have much value or not and online directories are largely ignored as people can usually find relevant businesses and carry out research on businesses using Google or other search engines.

However, the email is a scam and this is revealed in the small print at the bottom of the email, in the form of a difficult to read image rather than text.

The ‘advert’ says that updates are free and that may be true but the cost is in the subscription to the directory and that is automatic on returning the entry form and lasts for 3 years initially at a cost of 995 Euros per year (cannot be cancelled) and thereafter automatically extended. Trying to cancel the subscription is far from easy.

A total scam.

If you have any experiences with these scams do let me know, by email.
