An email claims that a donation of $3 million has been made to me by the Connolly family and I just need to reply to a different email address to collect it. Just a standard 419 scam email. The scammer doesn’t know my name and is sending from an Indonesian email address which is unusual and if anyone had made a donation to me they would have needed my bank account number details first to do so. Simple lies sent out by the million.
Martin Lewis, the TV presenter and journalist, is very clear that he never advertises anything and any adverts you see of him are always fake. The latest fake ones are for a Diageo company bond that pays a guaranteed 7.45%. Pathetic lies that are nothing to do with the actual Diageo company.
“No more finger pricking for blood” is a catchy email title. This is focussed on diabetics who need to do blood glucose tests daily – using a finger prick for blood. The email is pages long of emotive statements such as” It’s painful. It’s gross. Seeing your own blood will put you off your breakfast” and so on. What does the scammer offer? A video that takes away the need for blood tests. There are continuous glucose monitors available that mean an end to finger pricking but they aren’t a secret. The scammer has nothing of any value – just trying to scare people into watching her video that she undoubtedly gets paid for by the click.
Yet another scam email offering a magic answer to pain. This one claims that within 7 days all pain will be gone from your body. Then it talks about having knees or ankles ‘screaming’ out in pain and the answer is a sacred food that you just have to eat for 7 consecutive days. No idea what a ‘sacred’ food is supposed to be but it’s all just pathetic drivel from a scammer.
An email from Richard Lee asks us to kindly consider his request and provide a best quote. He attaches a document containing his requests. However we have never heard of a Richard Lee and the attached file is .jar format which is deigned for storing files on tape not sending in emails. Scammers use these unexpected file formats to try to get past the anti-virus scanners at the email providers and on your computers. Failure. There is no way we would download such dangerous files.
