There are endless emails, text messages, websites, magazine adverts and articles that are weight loss scams.
So many people want to lose weight and find it difficult so it’s a readymade market for scammers.
This latest scam email appears to assume people are as dumb as doorstops.
“One half glass of water plus this hack – 2lbs per day gone” is surely such an obvious scam that no-one could fall for it – but who knows?
The message continues in the normal scammer manner.
“Over 160,000 women and men all over the world are using a simple and secret ‘water hack’ to drop 1-2 pounds per day.”
Here’s how you do it
- Grab a glass and fill it half full of water
- Do this strange hack
The word hack is an unusual one to use in the context of a glass of water. Perhaps this scammer fancies herself to be something special carrying out ‘hacks’. The word in this use is borrowed from computer technology where it means to secretly get into a computer system or to programme something to carry out activities not part of its original intent or it can mean to make or fix something by using non conventional means.
But the word is also trending and increasingly is used in entirely inappropriate manners by imbeciles trying to be ‘cool’
However, that makes little difference – the message is just a simple scam.
