Raffle House Website Review

The website is https://rafflehouse.com/

It is literally about people raffling houses. This might seem a foolhardy thing to do but sometimes for whatever reason it may seem too difficult to sell a property the normal way and perhaps selling a great deal of raffle tickets can solve the problem. The winning ticket gives its owner the house and the sellers get the ticket money which may be more than the value of the property.

However, you can instantly see all sorts of problems with this idea – the most obvious one being that unless enough tickets are sold, the sellers are onto a loser.

There are fake house raffle websites but this one does seem to be genuine.

It is linked with Sterling Lotteries as running a raffle of this kind is really a form of gambling and Sterling Lotteries have the licences for that.

Their terms for the raffles state that If enough tickets are not sold by the end date then the end date may be moved so the raffle can continue.

If not enough tickets are sold when the raffle ends then the winner may get a cash prize which could be 75% of ticket sales minus costs.  There may be runner-up prizes as well.

It is not easy on the web site to discover how much the raffle company makes from the raffle process so if you intend to sell a house this way – do get all the relevant information before signing anything.

You will find other websites raffling houses, but most are one-offs created for just one sale.

If you choose to try this  – buy a ticket and you may be lucky but don’t go buying thousands of tickets expecting to win – that’s not how raffles work.

Website: Catch the Catfish

There is advice and blog posts about Online Dating/Romance Fraud at https://catchthecatfish.com/

Anne Rowe who started the website tells her story:

In August 2015 I met and fell in love with a man I had met online. After 14 months, I discovered that the man I was in a relationship with ‘Antony Ray’ was using a fake identity.

He had created a fake profile. Turns out he was married and even had a dedicated phone for ‘conquests’ from his fake life.

He took advantage of my trust and took away my right to choose. Had I known, I would never have consented to a relationship with a married man, let alone a man who was actively having relations with multiple women simultaneously.

His behaviour was premeditated, yet the current law will not find his actions a criminal offence. That’s why I’m calling for creating fake profiles for the intent to use people for sex to be a crime.

Whilst my story sounds shocking, many have also been ‘catfished’ – as it is commonly referred to (a fake online persona used for creating romance online). Individuals establish a relationship and build trust in their story, they can then chose to make the ‘catfish’ personal by meeting their victim to pursue a relationship under the premise of their alias.

Please help me to protect other people from going through what I did by signing this petition to broaden current legislation to include these contemptible acts.

Adult Grooming

Potentially, the behaviour described above can be called Adult Grooming.

This is when a con artist builds an emotional connection with someone to earn trust for long term  purposes of sexual exploitation or other abusive behaviour.

Whilst grooming children up to age 16-(18 for vulnerable) is illegal in the UK, it’s not illegal to groom an adult (although vulnerable adults do have some protection).

If you agree with Anne then check out her web site at  https://catchthecatfish.com/ and sign her petition.

If you have any experiences with romance  scammers do let me know, by email.

Website: The Daily Scam

The Daily Scam website is a resource to help people counter online fraud – it is funded by donations and has been attacked a number of time by hackers trying to stop them.

www.thedailyscam.com

“The Daily Scam was developed by Doug Fodeman and David Deutsch in response to the overwhelming number of Internet scams and online fraud targeting them, their friends and colleagues”.

Mission Statement

“Our goal is simple: To help people better understand internet-based threats, scams and fraudulent practices, and how to avoid them”.

These guys are big believers in education as the solution to these scammers.

They have created resources on their website to educate business and the public to keep your computers and your information safe. There is a free weekly newsletter “The Daily Scam” which aims to expose the latest scams and offer tips for reducing your risks online.

They offer webinars and workshops to help to educate people.

The website includes:-
